7cm x 6.5cm
Came home after work, performed my prayers, made dinner, had dinner and proceeded to carve while listening to my son pouring his activity in school and the light banter about the TV programs. The design transfer and the carving went on well (at least I thought so) right until the time to test out the image. Eh? Is it supposed to be "Tuufik"? (please refer to print number 1 at the bottom). I slapped my head and stared at the ceiling for a good 30 seconds.
That is what can happen while carving. You can accidentally knick or cut off a needed surface that can compromise the result. Tak ke haru Cik Dayang ni kena kawen dgn Tuufik pulak. Suka-suka je tuka nama pengantin lelaki kut!
So, what can we do? We will need to cut off the compromised text completely and leave enough room to insert another piece of rubber. Carve the new text on that new piece of rubber and fit it in. Refer to image print number 2 in the middle. This time I got the name right.
However, in cursive writing, we will need to check thoroughly all the i's have been dotted, the t's crossed anddd..... all the needed holes gouged. In image number 2, I missed the upper hole in 'f'. Image print number 3 shows that problem has been addressed.
The lesson here is, ALWAYS be alert and pay extra attention to detailing.
